2014 Event 3 Wrap Up, Results & Pointscore
Saturday, 11th January 2014: Competitors in event three of todays Dial Before You Dig Ocean Thunder were greeted with glorious sunshine and small surf conditions for today’s competition.  With $60,000.00 in prize money up for grabs the elite of Australia’s surf rowing community were on hand to witness what turned out to be an extraordinary days racing.

The Mens morning preliminary rounds saw series equal leaders The Beach Club, Collaroy XXXX Gold (Collaroy) and Starrett (Batemans Bay) battle it out for bragging rights.

Both crews achieving five wins and a second from the mornings six rounds. An innovative format saw the top eight Mens crews from the morning rounds avoid a cut throat elimination round. Apart from the joint series leaders it was the Victorians from Rosebud who had most of the field concerned after some eye catching performances.

At the second and final turning buoy CrossFit Athletic (Bilgola) held almost a two length lead over both series leaders. The second row home though saw Starrett (Batemans Bay) peg back CrossFit Athletic (Bilgola) inch by inch, step by step.
