Ocean Thunder - Entitled to Bragging Rights |
|
After 3 years and over $1M spent on television production the Ocean Thunder program is finally returning an investment for the sport of Surf boats. Thanks to those team stake holders, who have become our licensed team partners, we now have in stock over 12 hours of high quality, action packed surf boat footage.
Although we enjoy seeing our beloved sport of surf boat racing here in Australia we are still a long way on the back shelves to be recognized as a national major sporting property, not like AFL, NRL, Cricket, Horse Racing and the new kid on the block, and racing up the charts, V8 Supercars. Even if we secured a few million dollars and prime time TV, we would be so lucky to hit the top 20.
Purely by luck however we are attracting a curious global market, Ocean Thunder has been produced here in Australia for international export and all our programs are reaching an untapped television viewing audience, in some cases the English speaking commentary has switched to foreign language.
Our unique surf sport, a true Aussie icon, is having an impact to the world through our 2 year distribution rights agreement (free of charge) with the worlds biggest water sports producer “Pro Active Television”. This summer in the Northern Hemisphere, Ocean Thunder 2007 and 2008 with a total of 8 x 1 hour episodes will be featured internationally, a total potential worldwide audience 365+ million.

NZ Piha Boaties Lead the Challenge into France |
|
Piha “A” senior surfboat crew will travel to France this September to take on the best at the Ocean Thunder Internatioanl Championships in picturesque Biarritz.
These boys have been rowing together for many years and are brothers in arms - but its not always smooth sailing – five men in close quarters in stressful racing and training situations aint always pretty!
The Piha A crew boasts a reputation as fearless Big Wave specialists; now its time to walk the walk not just talk the talk - the possibility of monster surf at the world-renowned French resort of Biarritz is very real – and of course we all know what waves Piha can turn on …
Piha crew will tackle the gun Australian crews and for the first time ever have a crack at the British, French, and other European crews at the Champs. (They’re not so worried about the French though; it’s their Olympic Coxless 4 Crew who have very little wave experience – although if it’s a flat day the Kiwis are in big trouble).

|
SYDNEY, Feb 16 – Ego Platinum Austinmer and Manly
Warringah Credit Union Queenscliff both claimed back-to-back Evive Ocean

semi-final to gift the defending champions another title.
Led by experienced sweep Jack Patison, Austinmer
completed their rout of the 2007-2008 series with a comfortable round win –
their first of the season after three previous top four placings.

Surf Boat Carnage as Four Hospitalised at Evive Ocean Thunder Round 3 |
|
Sydney, January 19: A brutal swell at Dee Why Beach has witnessed an unprecedented day of carnage
to surf boat rowers in a rugged round three of the Evive Charger Ocean Thunder
Pro Surf Boat Series at Dee
Why Beach
today.
Four ambulances were called to the
beach in separate incidents throughout the day that saw competitors treated for
a fractured nose, two fractured coccyx (tail bones), smashed teeth and a
suspected broken leg and foot.
The injuries came in messy 1.5 metre
waves with a shallow outer bank causing havoc with boat sweeps desperately
trying to keep control of their own crews while avoiding the opposition.
Experienced Gold Coast-based
Stockland Currumbin boat sweep, Lyle Clark suffered a double fracture to his
nose in an incident that required 15 stitches after an out of control boat
clipped him from behind throwing an oar straight at his face.

Austinmer & Queenscliff Thunder to the Top |
|
Jack Patison’s defending series champions, Ego Platinum Austinmer, are sitting pretty on top of the Evive Ocean Thunder Pro Surf Boat Series pointscore after a spectacular round two at Dee Why on Saturday.
Austinmer (pictured left) finished fourth in the double-race final behind Skilled Avoca, Your Style North Curl Curl and e-Go Pacific Palms.
But consistency is the name of the game and after the smaller conditions of round one and the testing two-metre surf which greeted the crews in round two on Saturday, the “Austi” boys are on top.
